Main Purpose:
We are seeking a delivery-focussed Data Architect to take ownership of the front to back architecture for an in-house CTRM system. Focussing on the Metals, Minerals & Bulk divisions, you will be responsible for leading a small team of architects in transforming large, complex business initiatives into an architectural vision that will facilitate the structured delivery of functional capabilities. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organisation to facilitate the growth and optimisation of business operations by providing a clear picture of how the application landscape can enable delivery of roadmaps in current and future states, while supporting delivery teams in continuous improvement of our applications.

* 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles with a proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data solutions.
* 3+ years of experience leading data teams or mentoring junior engineers/architects in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
* Deep expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, and data lakes, with hands-on experience in ETL/ELT pipelines and data governance best practices.
* Proficiency in modern big data frameworks and tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, dbt, as well as familiarity with cloud-based data services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
* Strong understanding of distributed data processing concepts (batch and streaming), including performance optimization and cost management in cloud environments.
* Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, Java) to build scalable data pipelines and transformations.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of articulating data architecture decisions and strategies to both technical and business stakeholders.
* Proactive, self-driven mindset with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute on complex data initiatives independently.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to navigate ambiguous requirements and drive clarity in a dynamic environment.
* Strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools, ensuring data infrastructure is robust and easily maintainable.
Key Responsibilities
* Architect and maintain end-to-end data solutions, encompassing data ingestion, transformation, and storage across data lakes, data warehouses, and related big data technologies.
* Lead and mentor a team of data engineers and architects, providing technical guidance on data best practices, driving continuous improvement, and fostering professional growth.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product owners, business analysts, application developers) to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performance data solutions.
* Design and implement robust data pipelines using tools like Spark, Airflow, and dbt, ensuring data quality, reliability, and availability for analytics and reporting.
* Oversee data architecture standards and governance practices, including data security, compliance, lineage, and metadata management.
* Evaluate and recommend emerging data technologies and frameworks, balancing strategic innovation with tactical feasibility to meet evolving business needs.
* Establish best practices and patterns for performance tuning, cost optimization, and operational excellence in cloud-based data environments.
* Work closely with stakeholders to define data strategies and roadmaps, aligning technical solutions with overarching business objectives and timelines.
* Establish approach for establishing semantic data model, governance and evolution including influence on integration and API strategies.
* Stay current on industry trends and advance the organization’s data capabilities by championing new methods, tools, and processes.
