About The Role
As a Football Analyst at Essendon, you’ll be at the heart of the action, providing detailed tactical analysis, statistical insights, and supporting the technological infrastructure that drives our AFL program. You’ll collaborate closely with our coaching staff and players to enhance team and individual performance while shaping the future of the game with cutting-edge data practices.
What You’ll Do
* Analyse & optimise: Conduct detailed post-game analysis, identify trends, and evaluate player performance to help shape team strategies.
* Collaborate & contribute: Work closely with coaches to develop game strategies, player development plans, and opponent scouting reports.
* Data management: Leverage your expertise to create feedback systems, visualise data and match statistics, and communicate insights through targeted reports.
* Game day support: Ensure smooth IT operations on game day by setting up and troubleshooting critical systems and technology.
* Develop & train: Train coaches and players on analytical tools and new data-driven insights to elevate on-field performance.
About You
With tertiary qualifications in Sports Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science or a related field, you understand football tactics, strategies, and player roles, and are passionate about leveraging this knowledge to drive team performance. You can convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences, helping everyone to be aligned and focused. You thrive in collaborative environments and pride yourself on building positive relationships within the football department. Your attention to detail is matched by your ability to utilise data-driven insights to continuously improve performance in fast-paced, high-pressure work environments. Desirable, but not essential, is experience with video analysis software, such as Hudl Sportscode and Studio. Also highly desirable are skills with data visualisation tools and coding with R or Python, as well as experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Shiny Apps.
