You will be an effective member of the Gynaecology Ultrasound team. You will be providing the highest standard of Gynaecology Ultrasound service to patients in our expanding Non-Obstetric Ultrasound Service, working autonomously in a community setting.
Initially the role will be for 4 hours a day, but as this is a new service the hours will gradually increase over time.
Main duties of the job
You will provide a high standard of work as set by the service regarding the quality of Ultrasound examinations and ensure that the Ultrasound examination of patients is carried out as quickly as possible, consistent with keeping to the standard required and that the patients are sent home with the least possible delay.

Job responsibilities
To assist the other Sonographers in the ultrasound service in maintaining service provision.
* To ensure quality control tests are carried out regularly and any malfunctions reported.
* To be responsible at all times for the patient's welfare and comfort.
* Work with the Referral Management Centre to provide written communication to the referring GP within 2 days of the patient's appointment.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Postgraduate certificate or diploma in Medical Ultrasound, or a certificate/diploma from the College of Radiographers in Medical Ultrasound. Alternatively, they can hold an equivalent international level of qualification in Medical Ultrasound.
Experience
* **Minimum 5 years post qualification as a sonographer as you will be working independently without a Sonography colleague and Radiologist support; it is of paramount importance our staff have substantial scanning experience in the environment in which we work.**
* Have performed and reported on a minimum of 900 ultrasound scans in the last 12 months. The applicant must have maintained their Continued Professional Development in accordance with professional guidelines.
* Also, meet the relevant specification set out by the National Occupation Standards for imaging of anatomical areas.
* The new staff member will have English as a first language or if English is a second language would have passed a suitable English language examination to the level required by the Health Professions Council.
* The applicant will need to be a UK registered sonographer that is registered on the HCPC/SOR register.
