Esteem Greater Glasgow and Clyde early intervention psychosis service are looking for a peer support workers to join their team. About the role: This exciting role has been developed as part of the Esteem service review work to enhance recovery approaches specifically for individuals who have lived experience of recovery from Mental Health problems. The post holder will use the knowledge gained through their own lived experience to inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. The post hold will also be involved in contributing to the development and ongoing evaluation of the Peer Support Worker role, within Esteem What you’ll do: Get to know the service: staff, service users and the Early Intervention model Come along to groups and start to connect with people Building supportive and respectful relationships with service users to aid their recovery by using the personal experience and confidence you have gained having overcome similar challenges What you’ll need: A background of personally recovering from mental health issues. Past and lived experience of using mental health services Resilience and to be able to know when to ask for help Warmth and a willingness to make meaningful connections with others An understanding of factors which can affect recovery in mental health A curiosity to understand others experience IT literacy including Microsoft Office and Internet or a willingness to learn Strong verbal and written communication skills The ability to work well in a team Empathy, good listening skills, approach-ability and common sense. P/T 10 hrs per week over two day, working days will be flexible depending on the needs of the patients.
