DescriptionWirral Council is a supportive, forward-thinking authority committed to helping every social-care professional thrive. ?In our Permanence and Assessment &?Intervention teams you will hold a manageable caseload, typically under 20 children, and work within our Supporting Families,?Enhancing Futures model.?We provide the kit and flexibility you need—laptop, smart phone and agile working options—plus regular supervision, reflective group sessions and the same training offer for agency and permanent staff.Key Responsibilities
* Carry out timely, high-quality assessments, care planning and direct work with children, young people and families.
* Manage cases across the continuum: Child in Need, Child Protection, court work and permanence planning.
* Lead safeguarding enquiries, balancing risk, rights and positive outcomes.
* Prepare clear, evidence-based reports and present confidently in court and multi-agency meetings.
* Work closely with health, education, police and voluntary partners to deliver joined-up support.
* Contribute to service development, mentoring less-experienced colleagues and modelling best practice.
Requirements
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.
* Proven experience across assessment, safeguarding, care proceedings and permanence.
* Sound working knowledge of Children Act legislation and current statutory guidance.
* Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills.
* Commitment to relationship-based, strengths-focused practice and equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Willingness to work flexibly, travel within the borough and participate in occasional out-of-hours duties.
