Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll work in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will deliver project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables:
* Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
* Potentially lead in creating new product or service ideas and develop plans for new designs.
* Manage ideas from initial design through to production or installation.
* Draw detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
* Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
* Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
* Forecast accurate project costs.
* Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensure quality control and oversee the construction, development, and deployment of new products/systems.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain deep knowledge of your engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
* Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Develop personal engineering skills.
* Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
* Work independently with minimal guidance.
* Lead projects or project phases and be accountable for ongoing activities.
* Mentor colleagues with less experience.
* Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements:
* Previous technical SISS experience, engineering, design, and survey skills.
* Relevant licenses/certifications for the sector.
* Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software like AutoCAD/MicroStation.
* Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate and work with stakeholders.
* Problem-solving passion and analytical skills.
