Teaching Assistant
We are seeking Teaching Assistants to join our Special Educational Needs provision teams in both primary and secondary settings in Blackburn. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of educational needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs
Implement behaviour management strategies consistently and effectively
Assist class teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities
Support students' personal, social, and emotional development
Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
Record student progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience working with children or young people (educational setting preferred)
Understanding of SEN and inclusive education principles
Patience, resilience, and adaptability
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships with challenging students
Team player with a proactive approach
Level 2 English and Mathematics (GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent)
Desirable Qualifications
NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
