Job Description: Urban Designer
Summary of Role
As part of the Urban Design team, you will work on a range of masterplans, urban design projects, outline applications, and design codes. Your role will include preparing supporting drawings, character assessments, conceptual and feasibility studies, development briefs, and detailed design guidance. You will support/manage small to mid-size projects while mentoring junior team members and playing a key role in delivering large strategic masterplans.
Key Attributes & Skills Needed
1. Minimum of 3+ years of UK-based experience in an architectural/urban design practice, with a focus on residential and mixed-use schemes.
2. A postgraduate (Master’s) degree in urban design, with a background in architecture (other backgrounds will be considered based on portfolio and experience).
3. A strong portfolio showcasing excellent creative design and graphic skills.
4. Excellent communication skills for teamwork, client, and stakeholder engagement, both written and spoken.
5. Strong problem-solving abilities and an organized approach to work.
6. Proficient in design software including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, and/or SketchUp rendering/visualization packages.
7. Good hand-drawing skills.
8. Ability to manage time, workload, and tight deadlines while remaining focused and professional.
9. A willingness to learn, share knowledge, and advance within the team.
