A rare opportunity exists to join Rochdale AMHP Hub as an Advanced Practitioner Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), delivering Rochdale Borough Councils’ statutory responsibilities and functions under the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 (as amended 2007). The post is part of mental health transformation and represents further investment in the existing successful AMHP Hub model.
The Job:
This post holder will be one of a team of five fulltime, Advanced Practitioner AMHPs. The post holder will mainly focus during working hours on the Mental Health Act responsibilities; with some additional work in developing policies and procedures relevant to the service, building links with partners and contributing to the development, profile and networks of the team.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
With significant experience in the Approved Mental Health Professional role, the post holder will be legally literate in terms of application of the MHA, and allied legislation relevant to the AMHP role. In addition, the post holder will have the knowledge skills and experience to assess and prioritise referrals according to risk, and to decide on the level of response required.
The post involves working as part of a small team and the successful candidate will have strong cooperative skills, including demonstrable dependability and adaptability to changing demands. In addition, hold a sense of professional accountability and enhanced communication skills.
The post holder will have the ability to work collaboratively with wider colleagues in the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams, and partners such as the mental health trust, Community Mental Health Teams, Health, Police, and Housing, and have knowledge; skills and experience in the application of prevention and strengths based approaches.
The Offer:
Salary: Grade 9 £43,693 - £47,754 [Plus a market factor supplement payment £2025 per annum]
Hours are fulltime: 148 fulltime hours mapped on a 4 weekly AMHP rota in which the working hours are organised as compressed. The AMHP rota incorporates rest days and admin hours, as part of the working week to support wellbeing.
Joining a supportive established team of experienced AMHPs.
Day to day there is support of a hub manager, back up management team and access to legal advice when required.
Regular individual and peer group supervision specific to the AMHP role.
Links with management through the AMHP business meeting.
Support to maintain the annual 18 hours AMHP related training required to maintain competence, required by the 2008 AMHP regulations.
Applicants, who are already a qualified Best Interest Assessor (BIA), will have the opportunity to take part on the BIA rota.
BIA training, Practice Educator training, plus opportunities to support AMHP student placements, ASYE and Social Work student placements are all available and encouraged.
