Nottingham Building Society is a customer-driven financial institution dedicated to providing exceptional service and building lasting relationships with our members. As part of our commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a dynamic workforce, we have a brand-new entry level opportunity to join our Internal Audit team as an Internal Audit Associate. We are in the process of reestablishing an in-house audit team which means you will have a great opportunity to collaborate on and help embed our new ways of working, and the value we can add to the Society on its ambitious and exciting strategy execution journey.

This is a development role where we will support you to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to set you up for a brilliant career in this field and we will support you every step of the way.
The Internal Audit Associate role will help provide independent assurance on the risk and control environment across the Society. You will support with audit planning and fieldwork activities which contribute to completion of the annual audit plan. You'll champion and embed best practice standards while driving continuous improvement and new ways of working at every opportunity for our Audit team. Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing as an Internal Audit Associate at Nottingham Building Society:
* Internal Audit Support: You will assist in planning and execution of audits across the Society performing walkthrough testing of key internal processes to identify and test key internal controls.
* Data Analysis & Insight: Perform data analysis and review business insight to identify exceptions, discrepancies, or areas for further review. You will discuss findings with the business and prepare working papers to support audit findings including risk, impact, and root cause analysis.
* Reporting: This role will assist in the preparation of audit reports, including drafting observations and recommendations. You will support in sourcing and analysing data for Audit Committee submissions.
* Managing Risk: You will participate in risk assessments as part of audit planning and execution activities with a consideration of operational and regulation risks such as Consumer Duty.
* Communication & Stakeholder Relationships: You will interact with stakeholders to obtain an understanding of relevant risks, controls, and processes. You will discuss/present any audit observations or findings to validate with internal stakeholders.
* Compliance and Best Practices: You will conduct audit activities in accordance with auditing standards and regulatory requirements, and you will play a supporting role in a culture of continuous improvement, spotting opportunities for operational efficiencies.
* Continuous Development: You will develop knowledge of the building society/financial services sector and internal audit standards. You will undertake formal qualifications to develop professional knowledge and experience in Internal Audit.
About you:
* A relevant qualification or transferable work experience coupled with passion and drive to build a career in Audit.
* Commitment to undertake a programme of study to obtain the Institute of Internal Auditors Level 4 apprenticeship “Internal Audit Practitioner”.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with people across all business areas and levels.
* You will enjoy working in a dynamic environment with aptitude to learn quickly and adapt to changes.
* You will be collaborative and curious with strong ethical standards and integrity.
