Job Overview
The role of a MDT Administrator will liaise with members of the MDT to facilitate effective MDT meetings, accurate recording of data (for example investigations) and ensure appropriate communication between individuals and departments involved in the management of sarcoma MDT patients. There is also a responsibility to work collaboratively with other services to ensure all relevant information is available to facilitate MDT discussions.
Main Duties of the Job
* Exchange verbal and written routine information with a variety of different groups of staff.
* Ensure communication channels are used appropriately to facilitate the flow of information internally and externally.
* Provide cover and support for other members of the cancer support team, as necessary, to maintain the smooth running of MDT meetings.
* Communicate with members of the MDT verbally, electronically, or in writing to ensure necessary information is available at each meeting.
* Attend the MDT meetings to facilitate the setting up, closing, and other associated tasks.
* Implement operational policies and procedures relevant to the MDTs covered and propose changes to improve the MDT service.
* Ensure the safe use of equipment utilized by self and other members of the MDT.
* Contribute to the training and induction of new staff and support less experienced members.
* Process, transmit, and store patient data using computerized systems.
* Utilize appropriate software to provide regular monthly reports on MDT attendance and activity.
* Resolve routine problems and refer complex issues to the relevant Patient pathway tracker for advice.
* Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* Good all-round education with at least 5 GCSEs including Maths & English or NVQ equivalent experience.
* Typing RSA Level 3 or computing equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
* Ability to prioritize work effectively.
* Team working skills.
* Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
* Experience of hospital PAS systems.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
