What we’re looking for in a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner:
1. Experience of direct support with people with learning disabilities and/or ASC and Challenging Behaviour.
2. Experience in conducting assessments and developing, implementing and evaluating interventions for individuals presenting with Challenging Behaviours.
3. Experience of development and delivery of Positive Behaviour Support training.
4. Experience of working as part of a peripatetic team providing consultation to ‘challenging behaviour’ services.
5. Experience of reducing the use of restrictive practices.
6. Experience of outcome based service delivery and the required records which evidence.
7. Experience of contributing to the person centered review process and of using a range of person centered planning tools.
8. Experience of working as part of a team.
9. Experience of developing new ideas that improve people’s independence and working flexibly to achieve them.
Requirements:
Essential:
10. Educated to a related degree level or equivalent (QCF5)
11. PBS level 4 (BTEC)
12. Excellent leadership skills
13. Able to lead and encourage staff through change management.
14. Have related experience of working within challenging behaviour services.
15. Self-directed and driven to excellence.
16. Minimum of 18 months experience of supporting individuals with complex needs, particularly relating to ASD, learning disabilities and/or mental health
17. Excellent interpersonal skills
18. Understand relevant legal frameworks relevant to role e.g. Mental Capacity Act (2005)
19. Demonstrate the ability to complete behaviour assessment tools and write reports relating to behaviour to a high standard
20. Team building skills
21. Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
22. Able to work on own initiative
23. Time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage own caseload.
24. Excellent organizational skills
25. Effective communication skills; verbal and listening
26. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
