Job summary Cardiothoracic Surgery & Cardiology Physiotherapy Support Worker Are you an enthusiastic and dynamic therapy or rehabilitation assistant looking to develop your skills within an acute hospital environment? We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated and caring individual to join our existing dynamic & supportive team in the role of Band 3 Physiotherapy Support Worker. This is a permanent role working within the Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology team at Nottingham City Hospital. This team sits within the Acute Inpatient Physiotherapy Team, North Corridor. The successful applicant will be involved in assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning of patients, with the guidance of the physiotherapists. You will be expected to utilise rehabilitation and exercise programmes developed in conjunction with the physiotherapists. You will be responsible for your own caseload, working both individually and alongside other members of the therapy team. As well as clinical work you will also be expected to assist with administrative duties required for the running of the team, such as equipment ordering, stock management, printing or photocopying. This role will require the successful applicant to support the running of the service across 7 days and bank holidays. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who has previous experience as a therapy or rehabilitation assistant in an NHS or care setting. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Working alongside the physiotherapists and fellow support workers to provide rehabilitation and discharge planning for patients across the surgical wards at City Campus. Tasks will include gathering initial information, providing acute rehabilitation, assessing for walking aids, working with a wide range of equipment to promote independence, making onward referrals to community services. Working both individually and alongside other members of the team. Providing administrative and clerical support to the team alongside the other support workers. Maintaining accurate records (patient records, stock and audit data) Developing and promoting effective professional working relationships with members of the team and the wider Multidisciplinary Team. Motivating and encouraging patients to participate in acute rehabilitation. Role modelling NUH values in your everyday practice.
