Job summary The Clinical Support Specialist Nurse is part of the Clinical Services team and is accountable for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care to blood and component donors. The post holder will be recognised as a clinical specialist and a source of clinical knowledge and expertise for advice and direction. They will become an expert user of the JPAC Donor Selection Guidelines that govern donor acceptance criteria, and will use specialist knowledge of these guidelines to make decisions and give advice to donors and other staff. They will work collaboratively with the organisation to meet the needs of donors and supporting the delivery of safe blood products andwill contribute to the wider development and strategic direction of the Clinical Services department. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Main duties of the job Provide support and advice to donor prior to donation Provide support to staff on eligibility criteria to determine if donors are able to donate. Post donation support for donors who have queries or have experienced an adverse event. Advice / support Laboratory services and IT with clinical queries. Provide support and clinical input into various projects and developments. Work closely with other clinical colleagues, including Donor Care Consultant, to ensure excellent donor care and experience and safe blood for recipients.
