Science and Technology Coach- Grand Cayman
Salary Range: CI$57,192- CI$74,772 per annum
The Science and Technology Coach is responsible for working with teachers to develop their science subject knowledge, scientific inquiry, ICT and teaching skills. This primarily involves training and supporting teachers and other personnel within the schools in the planning, delivery and evaluation of science and ICT lessons. On the basis of need the Science and Technology (S&T) Coach will typically be assigned to 3-5 schools and coach between 15 to 20 teachers per year, working with a group of staff on S&T teaching and learning strategies and/or working with specific staff members on the integration of technology in the classroom. The post will involve a blend of supporting teachers in understanding the science and ICT content and developing a range of skills and strategies to support students in these two areas. In addition to coaching in schools, the Science and Technology Coach will also be responsible for running in the region of 15 to 20 science and technology Professional Development sessions throughout the year.
*Required qualifications and experience include the following:
* A Masters in Education (MSc/MEd) or evidence of substantial recent and relevant professional development in science and technology education
* At least five years’ experience as a primary teacher with evidence of effective science and technology teaching and the support of colleagues
* Experience of working with teachers in developing their pedagogic and scientific skills
* Experience of teaching science and technology in a way that encourages students to be interactive and inquiry focused problem solvers
* Knowledge of a variety of approaches to teaching science and technology, as well as the barriers to success in these subjects.
* Ideally at least 2-3 years’ experience as an Instructional Coach, Mentor or pedagogic leader
The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents.
