Job Overview:
We are seeking 3 skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our team working on wastewater treatment plants in the Warrington area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, installation, and repair within industrial environments, with a particular focus on wastewater treatment. You will be working on a variety of mechanical systems, ensuring they are functioning efficiently and reliably.
Key Responsibilities:
* Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and systems in wastewater treatment plants, including pumps, valves, motors, and conveyors.
* System Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and diagnostic checks to identify and resolve mechanical faults.
* Confined Space Work: Carry out maintenance and repairs in confined spaces, following safety procedures and guidelines.
* Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and light fabrication tasks as required to ensure equipment is fully operational.
* Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, particularly in relation to confined space entry, working at height, and PPE use.
* Troubleshooting: Quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues to minimize downtime and ensure the continued smooth operation of treatment plant processes.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance and engineering teams to ensure all mechanical work is completed efficiently and safely.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including maintenance logs and reports.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
* Mechanical Fitter Qualification: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant trade qualification.
* Confined Space Certificate: Must hold a valid Confined Space Entry certificate (preferably with relevant practical experience).
* CSCS Card: A valid CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is required.
* Experience: Proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance, and installation within industrial or wastewater treatment environments.
* Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyors. Experience with welding and fabricating would be advantageous.
* Health & Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including working in confined spaces and safe mechanical practices.
* Physical Fitness: Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces, heights, and challenging weather conditions.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Welding Skills: Experience in basic welding (MIG/TIG) and metal fabrication.
* Previous Wastewater Experience: Experience working on wastewater or water treatment plants is highly desirable.
