Role Description Allianz Personal Broker have a new opportunity for a Motor Technical Underwriter covering our office in Brentwood, as a Technical Underwriter you’ll contribute towards delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through the underwriting of relevant products in the market whilst maintaining technically excellent underwriting standards and building up relationships with both internal and external customers. The Underwriter handles cases, upholding underwriting authority at all times and delivering excellent service to our customers. About you Adheres to Underwriting Authority, referring cases where appropriate and an awareness of the impact case and portfolio decisions have on Profit and Loss and the achievement of plan. Delivers KPI targets across cases worked upon to deliver the high level line of business strategies. Provides technical knowledge and insight to policy wordings ensuring these important customer documents are maintained. Completes and owns as appropriate for each line of business. Ensures up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all relevant compliance and regulatory rules and procedures. Accurately processes new business, renewal and mid-term adjustment premiums where appropriate to the business line. Handles internal and external customer queries, dealing with them in an efficient, practical and professional manner, both verbally and in writing. Provides feedback and insight about our products to assist in the development and maintenance of the product. Liaises with all other appropriate internal parties including Sales and Distribution, Pricing and Reporting, Claims and Operations. Technical Skills Able to select the appropriate product for a trade/risk and apply/recommend appropriate rates and terms having recognised any increased hazards and collected sufficient information to allow a decision to be made or referral agreed. Understanding of the skills and tools required for effective Underwriting and has the ability to use these key skills to underwrite risks profitably. Understands internal and external provider processes and how this may impact on product delivery and performance. Aware of causes and costs of claims and risk management tools and their application. Understands the make-up of policy wordings and clauses with a basic understanding of non-standard covers available. Awareness of relevant legislation by Line of Business. Full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Aware of client/broker classification plus competitors, comparable products and pricing. Mainframe computer and keyboard proficiency and speed, displays effective navigation to allow application inputting, storing and retrieving data as required.
