Were looking for an experienced Responsible Individual to lead our brand-new service. This is your opportunity to guide a team, shape a newly established childrens home, and ensure we meet the highest standards of care. You will be the Ofsted registered Responsible Individual, taking charge of ensuring the home is fully compliant with all relevant regulations and providing leadership to make sure that every young person receives the care they deserve.
You'll be trusted to:
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the home provides exceptional care while supporting and motivating your team.
Ensure the home meets or exceeds Ofsted standards and all relevant regulations, driving continuous improvement.
Take responsibility as the designated safeguarding lead, ensuring every young person feels safe, valued, and supported.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure care standards are consistently met, always looking for ways to improve.
Act as the main point of contact for Ofsted, Local Authorities, and external agencies, managing referrals and overseeing quality assurance.
Address internal and external complaints professionally and thoughtfully, ensuring smooth and effective operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Compliance : As the Responsible Individual, youll ensure that the home meets all regulatory requirements, taking full responsibility for maintaining compliance with Ofsted standards and legislation. Youll lead the home to exceed expectations in care standards, creating a place where young people feel safe, supported, and valued.
Effective Management : Oversee the daily operations of the home, supporting the Registered Manager and staff to deliver excellent care. Youll mentor the team and ensure consistency in the service provided, ensuring that every child receives individualised care tailored to their needs.
Care and Placement Oversight : Work closely with the team to develop and implement care plans, ensuring that each childs placement is managed with the highest standards. Your strategic input will help coordinate services and ensure the best outcomes for the young people in our care.
Regulatory Expertise : Be the main liaison with Ofsted and other external agencies, ensuring that the service adheres to all required regulations. You will conduct regular audits, address any issues, and ensure continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement : Build strong relationships with Local Authorities, clinical commissioning groups, and external professionals to ensure smooth placement transitions and high-quality care.
About You
You are an experienced and motivated professional with a passion for transforming the lives of children and young people. As a Responsible Individual, you combine strategic oversight with a hands-on approach to improve care and outcomes. You thrive in leadership roles, bring substantial experience in managing children's homes, and have a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of residential care.
Skills and Experience
Proven Experience : Extensive experience in managing childrens homes, with a focus on care planning, placements, and outcome monitoring.
In-Depth Knowledge : Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and best practices for looked-after children.
Leadership and Management : Effective in managing teams, ensuring operational efficiency, and delivering high standards of care.
Regulatory Expertise : Experience working with Ofsted and a track record of achieving Good or Outstanding ratings.
Qualifications :
QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare / Level 3 Diploma Children and Young Peoples Workforce.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Services in the children and young peoples residential management pathway (either obtained or currently / willing to work towards).
At least one years experience as a Responsible Individual.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
