Job Title: Senior Project Accountant

What you’ll be doing
* Deliver and review outputs of project accounting financial processes:
o Project set-up – ensure appropriate consideration of IFRS15 revenue recognition in the set-up of all new projects and use of accounting structures to optimise financial information
o Project forecasting – work collaboratively with BU stakeholders to ensure the requirements for financial forecasting on projects are understood and delivered
o Order-book – own the monthly order-book reconciliation process and associated analysis of backlog and secured revenue profile
o Project trading – ensure there is an appropriate process for using project forecasts to inform the trading of project revenue and gross margin with review and validation with business stakeholders
o Reporting and analysis – ensure insightful financial reporting of project performance using the SSR and other reporting mechanisms as appropriate
* Management and Project Accounting - manage month-end process to create project and business area P&L, BS and Cash Flow and present this information to leaders
* Management Reporting - review first draft financial / management reporting for use with business stakeholders
* Budgeting/Forecasting - provide support to Finance Business Partners in terms of historic financials and inputting into financial models
* Cash flow and Management – oversee interface into SSFO team to ensure bills raised in a timely manner; work with business stakeholders to drive cash collection
* Financial Control - take ownership and responsibility for reviewing/approving reconciliations including DI BS recs, order book, project and business area financial reconciliations (e.g. working capital, SSR)
* Support finance modernization activity including transition of work from finance business partners into project accounting.
Your skills and experiences
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the Business Unit and wider BAE Systems mission and strategy.
* Experience of Project Finance and strong understanding of financial forecasting and reporting processes.
* Knowledge of relevant accounting standards (IFRS / GAAP), incl. IFRS15 revenue recognition
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel
* Recognises best practice in applying financial controls.
* Experience of using MRPs or ERPs (e.g. SAP, Infor LN, Oracle) and financial reporting, forecasting and analytical tools (e.g. SAP BPC / SAC, Cognos, Tableau)
Skills

* Ability to partner effectively with others

Qualifications
* Qualified member professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

This role is based within the Space business and will be responsible for integrating Project Finance into the area. The individual will need to be a self-starter and able to work on their own, building strong business relationships.
