A great opportunity to make a difference within Wastewater Network. Internally, this role is known as Sewer Network Manager!
As a Sewer Network Manager, you will be responsible for the productivity and performance of sewer networks across Hampshire, maintaining service standards to ensure that we meet our strategic targets, regulatory compliance and leading a team of sewer network engineers. You will work closely with Waste Pump Station Managers and numerous business-wide support functions to reduce pollution, manage flooding, drive Health and Safety, control finances, and deliver excellent customer service.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring that the right controls are in place for value, safety, compliance and service risk
* Balancing demands and expectations of team, people, resources, compliance, efficiency, quality of the asset, and demands from other parts of the business in identifying solutions to problems
* Working with service providers (CBUL amongst others) to ensure efficient delivery of operations
* Building relationships across Southern Water to ensure that business units work together
* Providing out of hours advice and support to manage incident response
* Taking accountability for reactive issues within geographical area such as burst rising mains, ensuring contingency plans are implemented and monitored until the issue is resolved
* Ensuring effective controls are in place to identify, manage and mitigate risks including regulatory compliance, financial compliance, service delivery, and health and safety
Your role will involve working with external stakeholders including various regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency, Local Authorities, and British Standards Institute, as well as direct customer contacts to resolve issues and provide excellent service. Internally, you will liaise with several operational stakeholders to exchange information about plant functioning and maintenance.
To be successful in this role, you will have strong leadership skills and experience in pursuing Operational Excellence standards. It is highly advantageous if you have a Degree or relevant qualification and experience within the utilities industry. However, we welcome applicants from operational management backgrounds if you have the passion to make a difference! You will need to be able to analyze management information to understand trends and identify problems with good financial acumen. Working in a highly regulated environment, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the standards of work are compliant with the required industry standards.
