Role: Health & Safety Supervisor
Location: Chesterton, Newcastle Under Lyme, ST5 6BN
Remuneration: Dependant on experience and skill set with excellent earning potential.
Working hours: 7:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday with one 30 min break. 45hrs a week.

Thorp Precast are a forward-thinking construction business with a passion for quality and innovation. We specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke architectural panels and structures.
Due to continued growth and investment, we are currently looking for a new addition to our Business Support team.
This role is to monitor and implement H&S on the premises in line with the company policies and procedures under industry legislation and ISO 9001/14001/45001/BES6001. Provide positive reinforcement to 200+ employees and continue to develop the safety culture within the business with the support of senior management.
Job Purpose:
1. Conduct daily and weekly checks across the whole site, covering 27 acres and 5 main manufacturing buildings and another 7 sub factories.
2. Update existing and create new Risk Assessments and SOP’s.
3. Deliver site inductions for new employees and sub-contractors.
4. Complete COSHH assessments and maintain COSHH register.
5. Complete PUWER assessments, manual handling assessments, HAVS calculations, and other assessments to ensure compliance.
6. Be point of contact for any safety incidents, carrying out investigations and close out report and findings.
7. Participate in key emergency drills and training, implement routine programmes of testing and trials of the key scenarios required for ISO 45001.
8. Update key documents as required and implement improved processes.
9. Record NCRs and formalise the root cause and close out.
10. Drive the safety culture forward on a daily basis with a proactive safety-first approach.
11. Review RAMS supplied by subcontractors and external window fitting companies.
The suitable applicant will:
1. Hold NEBOSH general certificate/ construction certificate.
2. Be a member of IOSH.
3. Have a good working knowledge of HSE regulations.
4. Have knowledge of PUWER and LOLER operations desirable.
5. Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
6. Be able to plan and prioritise workload.
7. Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
8. Be physically fit and active to cover the 27 acres.
9. Have a hands-on approach to problem-solving and can think on their feet.
10. Have high attention to detail.
11. Have the ability to read and interpret information, present numerical data, and gather information.
12. Engage with the 200+ employees on the site and take ownership of the H&S in the factories and external areas.
13. Have problem-solving and decision-making skills.
14. Have excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
