Procurement Specialist

The opportunity
In this role, you will hold responsibility for procurement of goods, works and services to support EDF Energy Nuclear Operations fleet of Nuclear Power Stations. This will include upstream procurement activity, drafting procurement strategies, market category management and downstream Contract Management as required.

Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Management: Develop and implement effective procurement strategies.
2. Negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
3. Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
4. Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
5. Ensure supply chain risks are understood, managed and communicated.
6. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within procurement and administrative functions.
7. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
8. Streamline workflows to optimise resource utilisation.
9. Compliance: Ensure procurement activities adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
10. Monitor and enforce compliance with company policies and procedures.
Who you are
Ideally, you will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a procurement and/or similar environment. You should possess a high standard of procurement competence in key areas of sourcing, process knowledge, contracting skills and supplier management. Good negotiation skills that drive positive business outcomes and the ability to influence at all levels are essential. You will have good project management skills, product awareness, commercial acumen, financial awareness, risk and opportunity management, and demonstrate exemplary business acumen.
You should work on your own initiative with minimal supervision and take responsibility for delivery, escalating concerns when necessary. The ability to utilise the collective experience and knowledge within the team to deliver effective solutions is important, as is the ability to build, grow and influence networks outside of your own team to support collaborative working. Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial, along with the ability to utilise all available information to prioritise workload and communicate effectively to stakeholders when required.
Very good interpersonal skills that support collaborative stakeholder relationships, excellent communication and presentation skills are also required. You are likely to possess a CIPS L4/5 qualification, working towards or an equivalent standard. You must either hold Security Clearance or be a UK national eligible to obtain necessary clearances.
