Main duties of the job
1. Greeting patients on arrival ensuring patients are checked in manually
2. Answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries following a clinical care navigation system
3. Making appointments, including telephone, follow-up, and urgent appointments
4. Dealing with messages from patients/clinicians or external bodies and taking appropriate action where required
5. Recording requests for home visits and ensuring that they are passed onto the duty doctor on call
6. Safe handling of patient files, maintaining confidentiality at all times
7. Filing medical records
8. Scanning hospital reports and letters, ensuring that the scanning of patient correspondence is kept up to date
9. Carrying out patient/GP Registrar surveys
10. Being responsible for the call and recall of patient lists as instructed by the practice manager
11. Assisting with QoF and Enhanced Services reporting and planning, including searches, recalls, and coding

We are a GP Practice made up of a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and support staff. Our clinical team includes five GP Partners, one Salaried GP, and one Retainer GP, alongside skilled Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants. Complementing this is our large and efficient administrative team, which encompasses Care Navigators, Prescription Clerks, Medical Secretaries, a Recall Team, Administrators, a Clinical Coding Team, and Medical Summarisers. Our operations are overseen by an experienced management team consisting of the Practice Manager and Deputy Practice Manager. We pride ourselves on being a close-knit team that values collaboration, professionalism, and finding moments to enjoy and share a little fun along the way.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
* Have had previous reception experience, preferably in a Primary Care setting
* Be able to work as part of a team, with individual responsibilities, maintaining a high level of professionalism
* Be able to listen, empathise with, and support people from all backgrounds and communities, creating trust and confidence
* Communicate effectively in oral and written format with patients, their families, medical staff, and other members of the team
* Be able to prioritise and plan actions, using their own initiative when under pressure
* Be able to deal with difficult and emergency situations in a professional and calm manner
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From £11.45 per hour (To be reviewed in April)
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
