We are seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team at a SEMH school in Southend. This role involves providing 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs, developing Individual Education Plans, and promoting their emotional well-being and social development. Key responsibilities include assisting students in overcoming barriers to learning, working closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment, and observing and recording students' progress. We are looking for individuals who are patient, resilient, and flexible, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact in students' lives. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable students, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable, but not essential. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning, using positive behaviour strategies and interventions.
- Promote the emotional well-being and social development of students.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
- Help students build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.
- Observe and record students' progress and behaviours, contributing to regular reports and reviews.
Qualifications:
- Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting is beneficial.
- Team Teach or similar behaviour management training (desirable, but training can be provided).
