The Role:
As a Test Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and testing of world-class audio and video production equipment. This dynamic role involves testing, diagnosing, repairing, and reporting on digital/analogue sub-assemblies and consoles, ensuring that each product meets SSL’s exacting customer specifications. The position requires a strong digital focus; however, proficiency in analogue systems is also essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Testing: Test new sub-assemblies to a demanding schedule while adhering to strict quality standards.
* Repair: Diagnose and repair field returns in line with Service Level Agreements.
* Development: Contribute to the development of production test documentation and improve automated test solutions as needed.
* Analysis & Reporting: Analyse test results, generate detailed reports, and communicate findings and potential solutions to the Production management, QA and Engineering teams.
* Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of test activities, ensuring compliance with established reporting procedures.
* Problem-Solving: Prioritise tasks effectively and apply logical analysis to complex problems.
Knowledge and Skills:
While we value prior experience, we are particularly interested in candidates with a strong passion for learning and improving their skills. The following qualifications and attributes are desirable for this role:
* Strong understanding of digital electronics and analogue circuit theory.
* Experience with PCB sub-assemblies - testing and repair.
* Knowledge of microprocessor-based systems is desirable but not essential.
* Experience or a keen interest in technology and audio mixing.
* Familiarity with basic PC applications (Windows, Word, Excel/Google Sheets).
* A graduate-level engineering background is beneficial, though not mandatory.
* An interest or hobby in electronics, PC building, or IT networking.
* Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose analogue and digital audio processing circuitry.
