The Project Coordinator will be involved in the project management and coordination of the planning, provision, and commissioning of new school places, focusing on school organisational processes for delivering assigned projects, including the establishment of new schools. The post holder will work with multiple stakeholders both within and outside the organisation to negotiate and deliver the best provisions and school places in the interest of children and young people in Cheshire East. They will undertake and manage projects to develop systems, procedures, and schemes to meet the needs of providing school places across Cheshire East.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
1. Coordinate and project manage the process related to school organisation and place planning, taking operational lead in areas such as development proposals, project management of new schools, and organisational changes like age range adjustments.
2. Act as project lead in establishing new schools on behalf of the authority, overseeing the free school presumption process where required.
3. Coordinate school organisation processes, managing consultations and statutory proposals for school organisation changes, supporting reviews and Place Planning Groups, and advising on academy conversions and other issues.
4. Monitor and report on the provision of school places and school sufficiency, including updating school capacity information.
5. Ensure effective service delivery to enable the local authority to meet statutory obligations for school place planning.
An opportunity has arisen in the Schools Organisation and Capital Team for a Project Coordinator. The role involves planning, provision, and commissioning of new school places, focusing on delivering projects within specific timescales and budgets.
The person should have project planning and management skills, experience in monitoring statistics and data interpretation, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work successfully as part of a team and collaboratively with professionals.
The candidate must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of School Organisation processes, the Free School Presumption process, and relevant legislation. Project management experience should be demonstrated in the application and during the interview.
The role is a mix of home and office-based work; the post holder needs access to a vehicle for travel across the borough.
