This is an exciting opportunity to become a Security Quality Assurance Officer, within the Security Assurance Team which sits within the Directorate of Security Capabilities in Government Security Group and delivers assurance services and products to benefit organisations across government. The team runs the Departmental Security Health Check (DSHC), an annual commission to support Accounting Officers in oversight of their organisations’ security to provide an authoritative pan-government baseline for Cabinet Office ministers, Government Security Board and the Civil Service Board. From this, the team performs assurance activity on the accuracy of returns, delivers in-depth Aggregate Analysis of the results, and offers Targeted Assistance Action Plans to organisations.
The role of Security Quality Assurance Officer would suit someone with an operational assurance, security delivery or security audit background. As a Security Quality Assurance Officer you will play an integral part in the development and delivery of the team's assurance products. Your primary role will focus on evidenced based Assurance tests to gain insights and to provide assurances to senior boards on organisational compliance to the Security Standards. The roles will be customer focused, working directly with Government Departments and Arms Length Bodies, to promote positive outcomes, understand where support is needed and lead conversations on improvement. By engaging with Security Advisors and Policy Teams you will be key in shaping assurance products in the development phase, and will work with customers the whole way through the process until final products are delivered.
You will have to use well developed communication skills to shape the Quality Assurance and Departmental Security Health Check and other products, and to use your delivery experience to support the team in reaching sometimes conflicting timelines. You will do this in collaboration with other professionals within and across teams, deliver cross team products, check data and develop innovative solutions and improvements. As part of this role some ad-hoc travel will be required.
You will be responsible for:
* Engagement - Work with both Policy Teams and security experts from across government to develop a wide range of assurance products.
* Delivery – Lead the processes for the delivery of the Quality Assurance Test process, keeping to tight deadlines and delivery milestones.
* Automation - Work with data scientists to produce automated reports that meet stakeholder and organisational needs.
* Analysis - present data, analysis and visualisations in clear ways using narrative storytelling to communicate complex messages, to a wide range of non-technical senior stakeholders.
* Cohesion - ensuring that the Quality Assurance products align with the DSHC requirements and current best practices.
