Job Title: Lead Boiler Commissioning Engineer Location: Ellesmere Port Duration: 6-12 months Rate: £500.00 per day PAYE - (£446.25 £53.75 hol pay) Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Boiler Commissioning Engineer to manage and oversee the commissioning of boiler systems for a new build power generation project in the UK. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring boiler systems are safely and effectively commissioned to meet project requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead the commissioning of boiler systems, including steam generation units, combustion control systems, and associated equipment. Develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules to align with project milestones. Coordinate and oversee functional testing, pressure testing, and system integration testing. Manage the calibration, testing, and verification of boiler control instruments, safety valves, and sensors. Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and UK health & safety regulations. Provide technical leadership to commissioning teams, ensuring effective collaboration with other disciplines. Conduct fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of boiler system issues. Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, including test records, punch lists, and progress reports. Collaborate with design, construction, and client teams to ensure project success. Mentor and train junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and development of commissioning best practices. Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and process teams to ensure seamless system integration in a power generation environment. Qualifications and Experience Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Boiler Engineering (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in boiler commissioning, preferably in new build power generation projects in the UK. Strong technical knowledge of boiler systems, combustion control, and steam generation. Familiarity with IEC, ISA, and relevant UK industry standards. Demonstrable leadership experience in commissioning projects. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. Willingness to travel and work on-site as required. Desirable Skills Experience with power generation technologies such as gas turbines, steam turbines, or combined cycle power plants. Competency in commissioning tools and software. Certification in boiler safety or pressure system regulations is an advantage. Knowledge of mechanical protection systems and fault-finding techniques.
