We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Underwriting Quality Assurance Lead to join our team. It’s a great time to join us as this is a newly crafted role working directly with our senior leadership team to deliver robust Underwriting governance, which is crucial to support the delivery of our strategy. This is a newly created key role reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, Commercial Lines and will be working directly with the Commercial Lines (CL) senior leadership to deliver our ambitious growth targets for the business.
This is a great job for someone with an understanding of commercial lines underwriting, the risks faced by the business and the controls needed to manage and mitigate the risks, who is keen to make an impact on the business within their role!
A bit about the job:
Within this role you will focus on designing and implementing effective control frameworks to manage risk across our UK General Insurance (GI) Commercial business. You will be responsible for building and maturing our existing processes and adapting these to meet the evolving needs of our business across all of commercial lines business. In addition, ensuring we comply with the increasing complexity of regulatory requirements, this role is essential for ensuring effective oversight of technical underwriting activities which are aligned with the robust governance frameworks that support delivery of our long-term strategic goals.
Leading a team of around four FTEs, you will deliver inspirational leadership and be a role model demonstrating at all times the mindset and behaviours required to cultivate an inclusive culture.
Additionally, you will:
1. Deliver inspirational leadership and be a role model demonstrating at all times the mindset and behaviors required to foster an inclusive culture
2. Design, maintenance and evolution of the risk control frameworks ensuring these continue to manage and mitigate underwriting risks. Support refresh of peer review process
3. Assess underwriting risks and take all necessary action to address issues identified to ensure these remain within tolerance
4. Drive actions to address identified issues to ensure effective operation of the risk and control frameworks
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
5. Experience of working on Regulatory projects
6. Strong analytical, written and communication skills
7. Understanding of risks faced by a Commercial Lines business and the controls to manage and mitigate the risks with a particular emphasis on insured perils
8. Ability to think long-term strategically and operationally
9. People leadership experience
