Main Purpose Of Role: Woods Air Movement has an exciting new opportunity to recruit a motivated Procurement Assistant. This role is part of a key pillar of the business in a dedicated and motivated team to deliver into strategic UK contracts. The Procurement Assistant will support project procurement strategy, governance and controls.
The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for working with the team to manage the supply chain and be involved in various aspects of supplier management. The candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to work with our multifunctional organization, to manage work packages with the project team. The candidate should show the skills required to maintain, communicate, monitor and implement agreements with suppliers.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, a team player, a confident self-starter with the drive to deliver change. They will need to show willingness to learn and develop new skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assist with supplier selection and development, ensuring suppliers meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
* Engage with suppliers to assess technical requirements and manage supplier accounts on the company ERP system.
* Monitor costs and budgets, communicate discrepancies, and ensure timely delivery of materials in line with production targets.
* Liaise with the Defence Team to keep everyone informed about supply statuses and resolve any invoice queries.
* Contribute to cost reduction, product development, and process improvement projects. This job description is not regarded to be totally exhaustive of all duties and activities required by the post.
Person Specification/Profile:
* Experience in a manufacturing-based purchasing role with a good grasp of mechanical and electrical processes.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Competence in interpreting engineering drawings and excellent computer skills.
* A flexible, adaptable approach and the ability to work effectively in a changing environment.
* Must be willing to travel to UK Suppliers.
* Close attention to detail.
* An understanding of Scope of Work Proposals and procuring to a high specification would be an advantage.
