About the Role:
Do you have a knack for connecting with young people and bringing out the best in them? Protocol Education is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Colchester! This is a temp-to-perm role where you’ll work closely with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them feel supported, confident, and motivated in their learning journey. If you’re compassionate, patient, and ready to make a difference, this could be the perfect role for you!
You’ll be working 1:1 and in small groups to provide guidance, promote positive behavior, and help each child discover their unique strengths. Every day will bring something new and meaningful as you work with fantastic young learners who just need that extra bit of support.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* 1:1 and Group Support: Provide dedicated support to students with SEND, helping them with daily tasks, lessons, and social skills.
* Promote Positive Behaviour: Use positive reinforcement and tailored strategies to encourage good behavior and manage challenges constructively.
* Collaborate with Teachers and SENCo: Work with teachers and the school’s SEN Coordinator to implement individual behavior plans and learning strategies.
* Build Relationships: Create a trusting, supportive relationship with each student, helping them feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.
* Support Emotional and Social Development: Help students develop key social skills and emotional resilience, preparing them for success both inside and outside the classroom.
* Celebrate Progress: Recognize and celebrate each student’s unique achievements, no matter how big or small, building their confidence and sense of belonging.
Who We’re Looking For:
* Passionate and Patient: You genuinely care about supporting children with additional needs and understand the importance of patience and empathy.
* Strong Communicator: Whether it’s with students, teachers, or parents, you’re able to communicate in a clear, positive, and encouraging way.
* Creative Problem Solver: You can think on your feet and adapt your approach based on each child’s needs.
* Experience in SEND Support: Previous experience working with children with SEND or in behaviour support is a huge plus!
* Resilient and Adaptable: You understand that progress takes time, and you’re committed to being there every step of the way.
