The Company
Ainscough Industrial Services is one of the UK’s largest privately-owned industrial engineering companies and supports three subsidiary businesses; AIS Vanguard Ltd; AIS Wind Energy Ltd and AIS Eurelo Ltd providing engineering services to industry covering Machinery Installation and Relocation, Mechanical Engineering, Technical and Heavy Lifting and Wind Turbine Generator Construction on a National & International scale.
Purpose of the Role
Main Purpose of the Job:
To carry out routine service, repairs and breakdown support to ensure our power plant and transport is always in prime condition. The role is based at our Wigan workshop within our maintenance team and covers our fleet of heavy forklift trucks, pick and carry cranes, hydraulic jacking systems and lifting accessories. Breakdown support may require some travel.
Relationships:
a) Responsible to: Wigan Workshop Supervisor
b) Liaison with: AIS Plant & Transport Manager, UK Branch and Operations Managers, Workshop supervisors, Plant suppliers.
Main Tasks of the Job include:
1. Service, maintain and repair to a high standard:
* Powered Plant: FLT’s to 27t capacity; Telehandlers; Pick and carry cranes; Hydraulic Jacks.
* Lifting accessories: Bogies; Stillages; Clamps; Chain blocks.
* Transport: HGVs, Trailers, Vans.
1. Record all activity and provide technical advice to maximize availability of our assets.
2. Provide breakdown support to group plant equipment. Remote from branch and dependent on customer location. UK remit & may require overnight stay.
3. Work with the workshop supervisor to proactively identify & document condition appraisals, electrical / mechanical / hydraulic work requirements.
4. Maintain a safe and tidy workplace.
5. Manage the safety of yourself and others, always impacted by your work.
6. Maintain work to best practice and be proactive in your work for the interest of the company.
7. Maintain & provide personal tools sufficient to execute your work duties safely. (Specialist tools are available for use).
8. Help maintain AIS Asset image and branding by the upkeep of livery & paintwork.
Experience / Skills & Qualifications Required:
1. Must hold a recognized UK apprenticeship qualification in related trade. E.g. Plant Technician, Heavy Vehicle Technician.
2. Previous experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing faults with heavy machinery.
3. Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
4. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
5. Clean criminal record and able to work on security sensitive sites.
6. Must hold a UK driving license with min 6pts clear.
