A bit about the role
As a Residential Worker, you will be working on a 24/7 shift rota basis including weekends, evenings and sleep-ins (including bank holidays and the festive season).
You will help our Children and Young People by:
* Supporting the service, we provide to children.
* Taking responsibility for the care and routines of the young people.
* Supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
* Being responsible for the safeguarding of young people.
* Leading shifts and managing risks whilst maintaining high quality care that is safe, personalised and outcome focused for children and young people in our care.
* Compile reports and plans and maintain case notes as required.
About the service
Action for Children's Moray services, provide quality residential care for up to 8 young people across Moray aged 11 - 18 years who cannot live at home and who are not yet able to live independently. We provide a safe and nurturing environment across 2 different locations in Moray (Elgin and Buckie). Our Residential Workers undertake daily household tasks to maintain our home, promote and support young people's hobbies and special interests, participate in activities with young people and administer medication (when required). It is also essential that you have a sense of adventure and a great sense of humour. After all, work should be fun.
We support Children and Young People who can, at times, present with behaviours that can be challenging, alongside having a range of complex needs. This means that the people we are looking for must be emotionally resilient enough to remain calm and compassionate at the times when it's needed most. We never said this job was easy, but it is incredibly rewarding, and you have the chance to make a real difference to someone's life.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
* Experience of working with children or young people.
* HNC in Social Care and SVQ 3 in Children and Young People's workforce social care pathway or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this.
* A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* A flexible approach to working hours (service open seven days a week).

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a 'can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:
* Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
* Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families
* Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
* Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
* Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
