Job Purpose
The Pest Control Technician is to provide complete pest control services (including proofing) to our client to control all pest species covered under our contract and, by thorough inspection, identify any environmental conditions conducive to any pest activity whether covered by the contract or not.
This requires visiting sites at agreed intervals governed by the specification service delivery and carrying out a detailed inspection in a safe and professional manner with due regard to Health and Safety and Hygiene regulations. This would involve providing an effective service to our clients site to effectively communicate observations verbally as well as in writing via the reports.
Principal Accountabilities
1. To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments.
2. Carry out any onsite practical training & awareness training with CITY colleagues.
3. Take “ownership” of all pest related issues, i.e. infestations/cleaning/proofing, to resolve ongoing problems.
4. Respond promptly to genuine emergency call outs from the Helpdesk.
5. To work in a manner to support the achievement of company KPI delivery.
6. Formulate detailed reports on stores, escalating issues to all relevant stakeholders.
7. To identify infestation non-repairable faults in plant and machinery and promptly advise the Area Manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement.
8. To prioritise detailed recommendations to stores and to achieve agreed timescales and response times to proactively defend against Pest activity.
9. Where pest proofing works is non-repairable, to make recommendations to the National Pest Control Operations Manager and Field Support Supervisor (FSSs)
10. To carry out proofing works and installations within the individual’s technical competence in accordance with current specifications.
11. To advise and document to the SM of any pest activity and how this may be detrimental to the smooth running of the store.
12. Following inspections provide a written report detailing pest activity detected and any environmental conditions that may adversely affect the store the which may be submitted to Trading Law, Operational Managers, SM’s etc
13. Maintain and keep vehicle and equipment supplied in good working condition.
To order preparations, spares to the laid-down procedures.
14. To comply with any other reasonable request or instruction from the company.
15. When require support of other engineering disciplines provide flexibility to service.
16. To always comply with the company Health and Safety Policy.
17. Use pesticides in a safe and responsible manner as specified under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
18. To work in a manner to support lowest cost to operating ethos.
19. To ensure all systems are working to optimum energy efficiency.
20. To always represent the company in a professional manner and develop a good working relationship with City and customer colleagues.
21. To work with company and customer colleagues to ensure that laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times.
Skills / Background / Qualifications
22. At least 12 months experience as a pest control technician
23. Royal Society of Health Cert in Pest Control or British Pest Control Association Diploma’s Part 1 and 2 is required.
24. Bird proofing work is desirable.
25. Fumigation services is desirable.
26. General building/fabrication skills is desirable.
27. Experience with Pest control environment.
28. Experience in retail, leisure or FM sector is desirable.
29. Good PC literacy
30. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
31. Full driving licence.
