With responsibility for all academic matters at Llandovery College and line management of Llandovery College Gollop Prep School’s academic programme, the appointed candidate will be responsible for ensuring that every student is stretched academically during their time at Llandovery, and is able to achieve outstanding academic results, as part of the significant added value that they receive from their Llandovery education.
The Deputy Warden (Academic) at Llandovery College is expected to be a dynamic and inspirational senior leader, responsible for all academic matters at the school. Their mission is to ensure that excellence is engrained into teaching and learning for the purposes of pupil achievement but also to champion the intellectual life of the school for its own sake, encouraging the virtues of knowledge, curiosity and interest. He/she will continue to develop a modern approach to learning founded on the traditional virtues of academic rigour. The Deputy Warden (Academic) is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning, to monitor the effectiveness of the curriculum and to provide effective monitoring and quality control, in order to produce outstanding and improving examination results as well as significant added value. The Deputy Warden (Academic) will work with the Senior Leadership Team leading, energising, and enabling the Heads of Faculties, and other senior staff, in the effective development and delivery of the academic curriculum and the efficient management of academic subjects. He/she will be expected to teach a reduced timetable within an academic Faculty in addition to contributing to wider school matters. The ability to teach Mathematics, Science, ICT/Computing would be an advantage. They are expected to make a full contribution to the pastoral and extra-curricular life of this busy boarding and day school. They will regularly attend school-wide events in the evening and at weekends.
