We are currently recruiting for a Production Manager for a permanent, on-site role based in a Manufacturing company in Birmingham. Working hours: 40 hours per week. (Apply online only) Monday to Thursday, (Apply online only) on Fridays. Key Responsibilities: Interpret and transform technical drawings into finished products. Visualise and assess designs, taking a step back to consider the bigger picture and ensure production feasibility. Utilise a hands-on approach to machining, welding, and assembly to achieve precise outcomes. Leadership & Team Development: Supervise and inspire a small team of multi skilled craftsmen/people, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Lead recruitment efforts, ensuring the team is well-rounded and aligned with company goals & values. Shop Floor Expertise: Bring hands-on knowledge of machining and welding processes, including troubleshooting and problem-solving. Oversee machine shop operations, maintaining high standards of precision, quality, and safety. Integrate efficiency standards to monitor machine availability, Overall Equipment Effectiveness etc Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, ISO standards, and company processes. Engineering & Process Management: Leverage a strong mechanical engineering background to drive innovation and efficiency. Apply a natural curiosity to overcome manufacturing challenges. Evaluate production processes, continuously improving workflows and output quality. Strategic oversight: Coordinate the supply chain and materials for in-house manufacturing and assembly. Anticipate and solve potential production issues, ensuring seamless delivery of projects. Production/capacity planning – have the ability to strategically plan workloads of multiple projects simultaneously against targeted customer completion dates, co-ordinating outsourced activities in-line with in-house manufacturing and assembly Serve as a brand ambassador, embodying the company’s values and ethos. Candidate Specification: Proven history of managing a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical engineering background; experience in welding and machining is essential. Ability to read, interpret, and visualise complex technical drawings. Strong record of building, developing, and retaining teams, including recruitment and training. Natural curiosity and a hands-on approach to solving challenges. An eye for detail and the ability to step back and see the bigger picture. A passion for creating high-quality, innovative products. Effective communicator and collaborator, with the ability to motivate a team. Salary and Benefits: £45000 - £50,000 per annum starting salary. EAP Scheme.
