Your role is about creating a warm, home-like environmenthelping with morning routines, exploring the park, or enjoying creative activities. Youll assist with homework, prepare meals, and ensure the home feels welcoming. Evenings and weekends are for fun, from playing games to exploring new adventures. Our children face social and emotional challenges related to their lived experiences and sometimes neurodiverse needs including Autism, ADHD, or trauma. On tough days, your understanding and encouragement will make their good days shine even brighter. Over time, youll witness the incredible impact of your care as they grow, flourish, and find joy. Supporting these children is always rewarding and never dullyes, theres paperwork and planning, but the work you do truly makes a difference. The days may be long, but they fly by because every moment matters. As a Senior Support Worker, youll lead your shifts with confidence and step in to support the Registered Manager as needed, taking on responsibilities like recruitment, supervision, meetings, and inspections. This role is working in a small 3-bedroom home, so youll really get to know the team and the children. The children need support 24 hours a day, meaning youll be able to work your full week in 2-3 days, which is only 10 shifts per month A day in the life of a Senior Support Worker will involve: Assisting the manager with recruitment, supervision, meetings, and inspections. Supporting children to have the best quality of life possible. Whether it be through baking at home, fun days out, or holidays with them. You could be doing anything from making sure the children have a healthy diet to taking them walking up Pen-Y-Fan Ensuring our children are kept safe and their plans are suitable for their needs. Well need you to help monitor their development by keeping our systems and records up to date. Dont worry though, youll get all the training you need. Taking part in our on-call rota, averaging 1 on-call per week. Youll get an additional allowance for this To be a successful Senior Support Worker, youll need: Patience, compassion, and resilience The children youll support may have experienced trauma, which may have an impact on their behaviour. Great communication skills Both verbal and written communication is important in this role as youll be speaking to a lot of different people at different times and need to be able to update the childrens plans. A driving licence Our children love to be out in the community. We need you to be able to drive them to where they need to go. We have the cars, you just need the licence. To be flexible Youll need to be able to sleep at the home during your shifts. The children need support 24 hours a day. This does mean youll be able to work your full week in 2-3 days Ideally, youll hold a qualification in residential childcare. If you dont its key that you have this within your first 2 years of working in the sector. We will pay for and support this if you dont already hold it. In return for your time, youll get: Holidays Youll get 28 days annual leave. Youll still need to work on bank holidays if the rota requires.
