Job overview
The post-holder will lead the development and operational management of the Data and Voice Network Team. This will involve overseeing and developing the Network’s performance management framework for capacity planning, security and maintaining all aspects of the networks and related systems. The post holder will take overall ownership of the Trusts complex network infrastructure to ensure prompt resolution by the Network Team and third-party suppliers. The post-holder will be the leader of the Data and Voice Network Team with expert understanding of Digital data infrastructure and will undertake the technical tasks required to provide comprehensive systems and services to the Trust.
Main duties of the job
* Accountable for the efficient day-to-day operations of the Trust-wide data and voice networks, including internal, local, and external links.
* Engage with clinical and managerial stakeholders to develop, agree, maintain, and implement rollout plans.
* Develop excellent relationships with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to influence the management and planning of complex technical services.
* Support the Head of Digital Networks - Data and Voice in establishing long-term strategies for service improvement.
* Manage the escalation and monitoring of incidents and requests reported to external agencies, suppliers, and contractors.
* Accountable for the installation and commissioning of data communication network equipment.
* Manage and support the Data and Voice Network Team using network support tools in line with departmental policies.
* Ensure the stability, availability, capacity, integrity, resilience, and security of the Trust data and voice network.
* Provide specialist technical support and diagnosis/troubleshooting for complex software, hardware, and data communication problems.
* Ensure up-to-date and comprehensive documentation is maintained.
* Responsible for service continuity and disaster recovery for the Trust-wide data and voice communications network.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Post graduate qualification or equivalent level of experience within Informatics or equivalent IT relevant experience.
* Cisco CCNA qualification or relevant experience.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in an IT related subject.
* Cisco CCNP qualification or relevant experience.
* Management Qualification.
Experience / Knowledge
* Proven technical background in IT working in an Infrastructure support role.
* Substantial experience of network management in a complex multisite, multi-server environment.
* Significant experience in a responsible managerial IM&T services role.
* Understanding of Voice networks and unified communications.
* Proven experience of working in an IT Server and Support environment.
* Substantial experience in planning, installing and managing Local Area Networks (LAN) / Wireless Networks (WLAN) / Wide Area Networks (WAN) / Private Ethernet Extension Services (EES) / Community of Interest Networks (COINS).
* Knowledge of Cisco network equipment.
* Excellent understanding of network topologies, protocols and systems including seven-layer model, TCP/IP, routing, management, DHCP, DNS and application protocols.
* Substantial experience of network configuration, management and maintenance including routers, switches, wireless Lan controllers, firewalls and software to manage networks and peripheral network devices.
* Extensive knowledge of Fibre Optic and Structured Cabling.
* Good working knowledge of wide range of IT Skills – Server and PC Environment, including Microsoft Office Packages, Microsoft SCCM.
* Proven experience in network resilience, disaster recovery and service continuity.
* Previous experience in line management.
* Specialist knowledge in network security including firewalls, Antivirus / Spam tools, Intrusion Prevention.
* Previous experience in NHS IT environment.
* Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Best Practice.
* Project Management methodology.
