Role Description
We are seeking a talented Senior Maritime CFD Engineer to join our growing team at EcoMarine Innovations. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Glasgow, at the University of Strathclyde. In this role, you will be at the forefront of optimizing maritime propulsion systems through cutting-edge computational methods, focusing on advanced CFD analysis and parametric design optimization to enhance vessel efficiency.
You will play a crucial role in the development of novel technologies aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing vessel performance. Your responsibilities will include conducting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, parametric optimization studies, developing algorithms, and applying your expertise in marine engineering to solve complex hydrodynamic challenges. You will work closely with other engineers and researchers, contributing to projects that aim to set new standards in the maritime industry.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead CFD simulations to analyse and optimize marine propulsion systems, with a focus on reducing cavitation and improving overall efficiency.
* Develop and implement parametric optimization models to fine-tune vessel hydrodynamics.
* Apply advanced network optimization methodologies to improve design and operational efficiency.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to translate research findings into real-world applications.
* Utilize programming skills to create and refine tools for optimization and analysis.
* Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to continuously bring new ideas to the table.
Qualifications
* Master's or Ph.D. in Maritime Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering.
* Extensive experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), ideally within the maritime sector, with a strong understanding of hydrodynamics and cavitation with preference to Siemens Simcenter Star-CCM+.
* Proven track record in parametric optimization and a solid grasp of optimization techniques in marine engineering contexts.
* Strong programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++) to develop tools for simulations and optimization.
* Excellent analytical skills with an ability to interpret complex datasets and derive practical solutions.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a forward-thinking approach to developing sustainable maritime technologies.
* Demonstrated project management skills and an ability to work effectively in a collaborative, research-driven environment.
* Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
* Experience of the shipping industry is highly desirable.
* Strong consultancy and engineering-oriented mindset.
* Flexible and adaptable to new challenges.
* Ability to work on your own or as part of a team on larger projects.
* Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
* You will need the right to work in the UK to perform in this role.
