What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, ambitious and self-motivated candidate to join our Senior Leadership Team as Business Manager.
The successful candidate will be a strong manager, who is organised and resilient and will relish the opportunity of making a significant contribution to our continued success. As a priority, they will have a proven track record in excellent financial control and management. Allied to this will be their ability to provide sound financial commercial advice to the Principal to ensure that the school fully utilises its asset base to generate additional income. Experience of personnel management and Health and Safety would also be favourably considered as will experience of working within the education sector, particularly in a secondary school.
The successful candidate will have / be:
• First Degree (or equivalent), and/or a recognised professional qualification as a business manager or in accounting, banking or business management
• Prior experience of working within the education sector—ideally in a secondary school environment
• Prior experience in, and understanding of, financial processes and procedures
• Experience in managing a multi-million pound budget
• Prior experience of working with the SIMS Financial Management System (FMS) or similar financial management applications
• Proven experience in developing and implementing business plans for a number of teams
• Full understanding of equal opportunities and Health and Safety legal requirements
• Proven experience in and understanding of human resource activity
• Strong knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR)
• Proven experience of leading and managing a number of teams performing a range of activities at senior level
• Ability to naturally and effectively communicate with a range of audiences and show skills in negotiating, influencing and problem solving
• Ability to lead and manage change which has a positive impact on improving an organisation
• Creative thinker and problem solver
• A highly competent user of ICT
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation and timemanagement skills
• Ability to monitor and interrogate data
• Desirable
• CSBM or DSBM
• Experience of bid writing and managing projects
