Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
* Coordinate and supervise shifts within Oxford CDC, ensuring seamless communication with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients across all our modalities - Dermatology, Pre-operative assessments, Phlebotomy, FNA, CT, MRI, and X-ray services.
* Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations, organisational standards, and health and safety policies while conducting clinical activities across the CDC modalities.
* Provide direct care to patients, including clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, cannulation, pre-assessment diagnostic test, aseptic support for sterile procedures within FNA and Dermatology clinics, as required. Ensuring patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality are always maintained and prioritised.
Clinical Research:
* Support research activities within Oxford CDC as needed, following established guidelines for clinical research, including good clinical practice (GCP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Education and Development:
* Participate in annual performance reviews and objective setting meetings, working in collaboration with the line manager to identify and address professional development needs.
* Engage in relevant Oxford CDC and Trust-wide (OUH) education programs, training courses, and meetings to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge in areas such as research, nursing practice, and patient care.
Management and Leadership:
* Act as the Nurse in Charge, coordinating and supervising a team of locum/bank nurses and healthcare assistants at Oxford CDC, fostering a supportive work environment and maintaining staff morale.
* Assist Lead Nurse in the organisational and management of the clinical area, ensuring individualised care principles are maintained and promoting efficiency in the service delivery.
* Participate in designated projects to improve care delivery at Oxford CDC and work with the Lead Nurse to ensure clinical standards are met through audits and assessments.
* Proactively be involved in all aspects of new service implementation, by sourcing training required to deliver these services.
Clinical Governance:
* Promote a safe clinical environment for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring all aspects of clinical practice are compliant with relevant standards.
* Support both local and Trust-wide (OUH) initiatives aimed at improving service quality and safeguarding high standards of patient care, ensuring ongoing improvements at Oxford CDC.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NMC registration
* A degree or diploma in nursing, or an equivalent qualification
Experience
* As the successful candidate, you are an experienced and highly skilled registered nurse. You have a proven track record of continuous professional development and have excelled at the band 5 or 6 level within a clinical environment.
* A flexible and innovative mindset, adapting quickly to changing situations and demands.
* Availability to work a flexible shift pattern, including 7:30 am to 7:30 pm across 7 days a week (37.5 hours per week).
* Your dedication to nursing excellence and patient care, coupled with your ability to lead and manage effectively, will make you an invaluable part of our diagnostic centre team.
