As a Large Loss Handler you will be proactively managing a caseload of technically complex claims up to a value of £500,000 including fatalities, mild brain, and serious orthopaedic injury claims whilst operating within Haven’s Delegated Authority and reserving and reporting to reinsurers when required. Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced claims handlers and handle technical referrals where required. Role: Large Loss Handler Location: Hybrid with office days in Liverpool and/or Sevenoaks Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm Salary: £44,000– 52,500 10% bonus potential per annum, paid quarterley What you will be doing: A proactive management approach to handling their own portfolio with excellent diary management whilst maintaining own KPI’s and SLA’s. Proactive review of claims ensuring they are realistically and accurately reserved in line with best practice and the earliest opportunity and referring those highlighted as exceeding authority. To provide accurate and timely written reports and verbal presentations of cases to the wider business and reinsurers. Understand when to utilise external suppliers to ensure the best outcome for the business with minimal claims spend. Participate in training/auditing of less experienced handlers where required. Maintain own technical knowledge through training/seminars and provide feedback and training on issues identified. Assist with setting of technical philosophy and business best practice and participating in any projects as/when the business requires. What we’re looking for: Persuasive, strong and confident communicator with strong analytical skills. Ability to use own initiative to explore all options to achieve the best outcome for the business and take ownership of the same. Highly motivated self-starter requiring minimal supervision and superior time management skills ensuring they are capable of organising and prioritising work effectively. Excellent team player.
