Brief Description
As Network Rail invests in new technology, the ability to carry out tasks remotely without having to go trackside is increasing. Being part of the Network Management Engineer team, you will be based in Doncaster, working five days per week, Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours.
The role involves proactively monitoring various alarm systems and responding to incident tickets raised for issues that can affect our corporate or operational rail voice services nationally. Some of your activities will include:
1. Monitoring and reacting to key business and operational infrastructure alarms
2. Diagnosing and assessing impact before working with various resolver teams
3. Providing remote support for field engineers
4. Configuring various telephony platforms
5. Ensuring configuration is documented and knowledge is shared with engineering/support teams
You will receive technical and professional training which will help you develop in this role, whilst also providing further opportunities for those wanting to progress within Network Rail in the future.
What essential skills and experiences are required?
* Experience in telecom network management.
* Working knowledge & understanding of Voice networks, Station Information and Security Systems and PDH.
* Practical experience of fault finding and fault resolution.
* Practical experience of managing planned maintenance & network interruptions.
* Telecoms qualifications through to degree or relevant experience.
