Job overview
We are part of the paediatric respiratory service which employs a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of childhood respiratory disorders. We provide diagnostics and therapies for respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders via cardiorespiratory and polysomnography sleep studies, MSLTs, actigraphy, oximetry, Physiologist/NIV led clinics, and Sleep consultations.
The post holder should have excellent communication skills to work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team (doctors, CNS, ward nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, psychologists, and scientists). The successful candidate will have proven experience of lung function in children, be able to work independently, participate in the running and expansion of the service and contribute to ongoing research projects.
Main duties of the job
This role provides a secure opportunity to employ and develop a solid understanding of respiratory and sleep physiology, predominantly lung function, whilst learning the necessary skills required to become a key and valued member of the team. A willingness to learn and progress through our service will prove critical to any successful applicant.
The band 6 post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team towards the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric respiratory and sleep disorders and contribute to and maintain excellent standards of patient care and clinical practice.

Qualifications
* Degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent science-related subject (PTP/STP)
* ARTP 1 (Practitioner level III) Qualification or equivalent
* ARTP 2
Experience
* Experience of clinical contact with patients and/or the public
* Experience with paediatric patients
* Experience of performing physiological measurements on Paediatric patients
* Experience of delivering education or instruction to individuals and/or groups.
* Relevant experience in teaching and mentoring junior/student healthcare scientists and other healthcare professionals the principles and practicalities of basic and some advance respiratory and sleep medicine assessments.
Knowledge
* Good basic knowledge of respiratory disorders, interventions, and physiological procedures
* Ability to work independently within established policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of advanced lung function investigations and condition
Skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications such as Word and Excel.
* Ability to use analytical skills to accurately review data
