This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to take on a challenging and highly rewarding senior leadership role within the Division, further building on their experience and track record of delivery. As the senior nurse or AHP or clinical lead for the Division, you will be responsible for the professional leadership, development of staff and the management of clinical quality, safety, and governance in the Division.
The successful candidate will be able to show high level relational and compassionate leadership and demonstrate inter-personal skills across all aspects of this role. The post holder will be actively involved in developing and delivering the strategic aims of the Division, alongside the Associate Director of Operations and reporting to the Divisional Director.
The Division, Diagnostics Therapeutics and Cancer [DTC], comprises of the following service areas: Radiology, Pathology, Mortuary, Therapy, Pharmacy, Outpatient, Endoscopy, and Cancer services.
The postholder will act as part of the triumvirate with the Associate Director of Operations and the Divisional Director to create a culture within the Division that facilitates excellence in clinical services through patient centered multi-professional team-based care. They will ensure quality of services to patients, visitors and staff, including management of clinical governance, healthcare standards and risk. The postholder will be accountable for the delivery and performance of the clinical service provided within the Division and ensuring that standards of care and treatment meet the registration requirements of the Care Quality Commission and other regulators.
The postholder will lead and manage the Divisional nursing and Allied Clinical workforce. They will lead and manage the Divisional Quality team. They will provide operational management for the Division in the absence of the Associate Director of Operations. The postholder will provide high level professional and operational support for workforce across the wider Trust to support achievement of the Trust vision. They will provide leadership and support to clinical leaders to deliver excellent quality care, providing highly specialist and expert advice to the Trust and Division on all professional matters.

The postholder will lead on the Clinical Governance Assurance Framework and implementation for the Division and across the Trust. They will work with the Divisional Clinical Director and Associate Director of Operations to embed systems to deliver high standards of quality and safe care based on best practice and clear evidence, and in line with Trust priorities. They will contribute to decision making at a corporate level within the organisation, through membership of the Trust Senior Leader Forum.
The postholder will support the Divisional Director and Associate Director of Operations in the production of the Divisional annual Business Plan, ensuring that the workforce is appropriately involved and that relevant professional developments are fully reflected. They will contribute to the development of the professional leadership in the Trust. Represent the Trust, Divisional Director, Medical Director and Chief Nurse when required.
Work with senior colleagues across the Division and Trust to refine clinical quality dashboards so that they increasingly enable early intervention before significant risks or harm occur. Use formal risk assessment processes to identify, manage and mitigate risks relating to across the Division.
The postholder will work in partnership with the Divisional Director and Associate Director of Operations, in the ongoing identification and operational delivery of schemes to contribute to the Trust’s cost improvement programme (CIP). They will lead the short- and long-term strategic planning for redesign and modernisation of professional roles within the Division.
