Job Description
Qualified Social Worker, Independent Reviewing Officer, Dudley MBC, Children's Assessment Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team.
The team works extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Provide a comprehensive reviewing service for Dudley MBC fosters, ensuring the foster carers' terms of approval are reviewed at least once annually as required by fostering regulations.
2. Undertake reviews following a Complaint/Allegation in relation to a Dudley foster carer.
3. Responsible for the timeliness of reviews and that they are undertaken within the agreed statutory and procedural timescales.
4. Provide high quality reports and ensure that accurate records are kept in relation to the outcomes of reviews.
5. Take a lead in the monitoring of foster carers' reports, performing a quality assurance function.
6. Attendance at regular review panels to quality assure samples of foster care reviews.
7. Prepare an IRO report for inclusion in the Fostering Service annual report and provide updates as required.
8. Provide an interface between the Safeguarding Unit and the Fostering Service.
9. Develop positive relationships within the team in order to promote and implement processes.
10. Ensure the foster care placement provides appropriate care to the child(ren)/young people placed in the foster care household.
11. Provide regular analytical reports to Fostering Panel identifying examples of good practice, themes and trends, feedback on children’s views and suggestions for development, changes to practice, policies and procedures.
12. Review of the Foster Care review paperwork and processes in line with service development.
13. Assist in the creation and implementation of an IT solution to capture management information in relation to Fostering IRO role.
14. 37 hours per week (flexible by negotiation).
15. 3 month Temporary Contract.
16. Start date subject to DBS and reference clearance.

The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent, must be registered with the HCPC, have a current DBS, and be a car driver.
