How you'll make a difference
It is an exciting and challenging time to join us at South Gloucestershire Council and the Transformation Team. You will work on key strategic projects to support the council in exploring alternative ways to meet some of our statutory duties for education. We are keen to ensure that take the most effective approach, utilising our limited financial resources efficiently, by learning from others and adopting best practice.
You will be part of a high performing, supportive team leading transformation across council services and will be enabling improvements and service redesign in the education service, ensuring delivery of change within the agreed timeline.
This post is a 6 month limited term contract and can be offered as a secondment, you should first seek your line managers permission before applying. This post is restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only. What will you be doing?
1. As an experienced project manager, you will use a flexible approach to develop, lead, manage and implement a key statutory service redesign.
2. You will drive change across the department to improve outcomes for children and young people that will deliver value for money which adhere to our statutory obligations.
3. In the role you will research and analyse best practice nationally.
4. Stakeholder engagement is key and you will be engaging with Schools,other Local Authorities and Health.
5. You will develop and present options and associated risks for service redesign for Senior Managers and Councillors.
6. It will be your responsibility to plan and implement the agreed option which could include the introduction of new ways of working.
What we need from you
7. It is essential that you hold a relevant professional qualification, degree or equivalent experience and/or knowledge.
8. You must be a be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently
9. We require you to have skills and experience that demonstrate you can manage project delivery, including public and stakeholder engagement and risk analysis.
10. You will be able to think strategically and analytically and bring creativity into project delivery.
11. It is key to the success of the role that you can collaborate and communicate with colleagues from across the organisation, including senior officers and elected members, as well as a range of external stakeholders.
12. It is essential that you can demonstrate knowledge of research, development and evaluation techniques and use your initiative to maintain relevant, current knowledge of trends, approaches and methodologies.
13. A knowledge and understanding of Local Authority statutory responsibilities would be advantageous.
