Main Duties of the Job
This post offers the successful applicant a wide range of palliative medicine experience. In collaboration with medical colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team, and dependent on experience, the post holder will play an important medical role in delivering care to inpatients and community and wellbeing service patients. The post also involves participation in training, education, and activities relating to maintaining clinical excellence within the service. It may interest junior doctors who are keen to establish a career in this field.

Job Responsibilities
Location: Marie Curie Hospice, Newcastle
Salary: NHS Specialty Registrar Pay Scale £49,909 - £61,825 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience) plus on-call supplement.
Hours: 24 Hours (1x 6 PAs) per week with 1 in 5 on-call commitment
Contract: Fixed-term - 12 months
Closing Date: 23rd February 2025

Essential
1. MB ChB or equivalent.
Desirable
1. Higher Medical Qualification.
2. Diploma in Palliative Medicine.
Experience
Essential
1. Full GMC registration, a licence to practise and at least 2 years of full-time postgraduate training, 2 of which must have been in relevant acute specialities (or demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies).
2. Experience in Treating Primary and Secondary Malignant Disease, and symptoms in non-malignant conditions.
3. Audit Skills.
4. Teaching Skills.
5. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. Excellent communications skills.
Desirable
1. Knowledge and experience of symptom control.
2. Research interest.
