Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: Up to £45,000 (DOE)
Mon–Thurs 8:30–5:15, Fri 8:30–1:00 | Hybrid/WFH | 37.5 hours/week

This growing UK business supplies products globally across sectors like naval defence, offshore energy, marine research, and environmental monitoring. With over 50 staff, in-house manufacturing, and significant new investment, they’ve started 2025 with their strongest order book to date.
The Role:
* Full-lifecycle product design—from concept through to test.
* Lead the design of complex mechanical housings, jigs, and tooling using SolidWorks (with PDM).
* Designing and detailing complex parts and assemblies.
* Working with steel, bronze, aluminium and specialist plastics.
* Creating 2D and 3D drawings, BOMs and work instructions.
* Supporting testing and validation (including on-site testing in a lake!).
* Liaising with suppliers and internal departments to meet technical requirements.
The Person:
* Min 3 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in fabrication, machined parts or precision components.
* A good understanding of mechanical materials and manufacturing processes.
* Comfortable leading small projects and contributing to cross-functional teams.
* Knowledge of sonar or marine equipment is a bonus, but not essential.
