Basingstoke and Deane is seeking a Ranger Team Manager. This person will be responsible for leading the ranger team in the delivery of habitat management work on c300ha of natural green space owned and managed by the council. They will help foster a strong working relationship with current and future volunteer groups and lead the 6-person ranger team on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for someone who is experienced in delivering land management work programmes on a range of habitats including species rich grassland, heathland, woodland and water courses. They will also have strong people management skills, having directly managed others in the past, and have experience of working with volunteers, including a clear understanding of health and safety issues. We are looking for someone who can operate at a strategic level and finally, they must be able to engender excitement and interest around the biodiversity work of the council. Covering an area of 245 square miles in northern Hampshire, Basingstoke and Deane offers a real blend of rural and urban living. With a population of 185,200 people, Basingstoke is a fast paced, vibrant and modern town with many successful businesses, surrounded by pretty villages and set in the stunning Hampshire countryside.
